It’s been a good couple of months watching Sledmere Stud sales graduates winning in some very prominent racing livery.
Firstly, the impeccably-bred I Am Invincible filly Dame Giselle, raced by Go Bloodstock Australia & China Horse Club, posted a major black-type success when winning the coveted Group 2 ATC Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
Then the highly progressive 3-year-old colt Dirty Work strung together three straight victories in the colours of Spendthrift Australia, his latest win being the ATC Ortensia Stakes (1100m) at Listed Race level.
Yesterday saw the unmistakable colours of Shadwell Stud being carried to victory by another Sledmere Stud sales graduate in the form of Aswaat. Having only her second career start, the daughter of Deep Field opened up her winning account in a Maiden Plate at Pakenham and did it in the style of an untapped talent with boundless potential.
This sequence of wins — for some of the most significant racing and breeding operations in the world — has been witnessed at a time when Sledmere Stud also consigned the 2020 Easter Yearling Sale $1.8 million top-seller to Coolmore Australia principal Tom Magnier.

Despite the colossal disruption Covid-19 has caused to the domestic bloodstock schedule in recent months, the 2020 sales series rolls on and sees Sledmere Stud currently preparing our quality draft for the Australian Weanling Sale (July 8). Coincidentally, it features a Pride of Dubai half-brother to the aforementioned Group winning 2-year-old filly Dame Giselle.
