Sledmere Stud enjoyed a ‘Red Letter Day’ of stakes wins when not one but two sales graduates broke through for their maiden black-type success for two of the leading Syndication companies in the country within a couple of hours of each other on major interstate programs.
At Caulfield in Melbourne, Revolutionary Miss recorded the first leg of the double when running out an impressive winner of the GROUP 2 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield for Triple Crown Syndications and bursting into calculations for the GROUP 1 Blue Diamond Stakes on Saturday February 26.
Trained by Peter & Paul Snowden at Randwick, the first-crop daughter of Newgate Farm-based sire Russian Revolution became the first member of the breed to score in Pattern Race company and shot into single-figure odds for the most coveted 2-year-old event on the Victorian racing calendar.
Later on the same day, the Ciaron Maher-Dave Eustace trained Snapdancer [pictured above] proved to be an emphatic winner of the GROUP 3 Triscay Stakes at Randwick in the colours of Spicer Thoroughbreds.
Winner of the $1,000,000 Magic Millions Fillies & Mares event on the Gold Coast at her previous outing, Snapdancer took her earnings to $1,023,800 following her fifth win (plus six placings) from just 16 starts.
Revolutionary Miss and Snapdancer became the second and third stakes winning Sledmere Stud sales graduates in the space of a week following the brilliant debut victory of Sebonack in the GROUP 3 Chairman’s Stakes (1000m) the previous Saturday.
Such was the merit of the two juvenile Group wins of Sebonack and Revolutionary Miss at Caulfield on consecutive Saturdays, the Sledmere Stud sold brace of 2-year-olds hold down the third- and fourth-line of betting for the Blue Diamond Stakes respectively.
