It’s fair to say that Easter 2022 lived right up to everyone’s expectations and that the Sledmere Stud sales team very much played its part in every way, shape and form.

Generally speaking, the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale — to give it it’s full title — broke all records, the two days of trading concluding with a gross of $152,905,000, an average of $400,275, a median of $300,000, and a clearance of 87 percent.

This overall summary goes in some way to illustrate the individual success of the Sledmere Stud consignment, confirming its most notable achievements plus the fact that our clients were again prepared to met the market by placing realistic reserves on stock which in some cases was probably increasing in value by the hour.

For the third time in four yearling sales this year, Sledmere Stud recorded 100 percent clearance with all 17 Lots offered being successfully sold by the time we left Riverside Stables on Wednesday night. As a result, we posted an aggregate of $7,085,000 — a figure which established us as the sixth highest vendor based on total receipts.

Just as impressive is the fact that our Easter median of $410,000 was no less than $110,000 superior to that of the sale in general. With a top-price of $850,000, our median reflects what a quality draft we presented right across the board and all buyers should be confident that they got great value for money with their purchases.

Without singling out too many members of our 2022 Easter Yearling Sale draft, the $850,000 received for the Russian Revolution-Abscond (Lot 36) filly was a big thrill for all concerned, as was the $750,000 and $700,000 fetched by a further two fillies catalogued as Lot 324 (Zoustar-Nurse Kitchen) and Lot 462 (I Am Invincible-Talaria) respectively.

In fact, no fewer than five of the six Lots Sledmere Stud sold for $500,000 or more proved to be fillies, proving once again what great appreciation the domestic and international buying bench annually assembled by Inglis for the Easter Sale has for ‘a page’.

Thank you to everyone for your support over the past few weeks. Apart for some very wet and windy days, Riverside Stables was bathed in proverbial sunshine for a vitally important 48-hour period on the Sledmere Stud thoroughbred sales calendar.
