The victory of No Baby No at Yarra Valley in the final few days of 2021 was a fantastic way to end the year. A homebred and raced daughter of Shooting To Win ex Exabelle trained on our behalf by Leon & Troy Corstens, this lightly-raced 3-year-old recorded her first career win in style and very much gave the impression that there is much more in store in 2022 and beyond.
Having just her fifth race start, No Baby No traveled just behind the pace in the 1009m contest before hitting the line like a filly very likely to appreciate more ground as a daughter of a celebrated Caulfield Guineas winner and Randwick Guineas placegetter.
A big thanks goes out to Malua Racing for its brilliant handling of No Baby No and everything the stable has done to help develop this family to date. No Baby No is the fourth individual winner produced by Sledmere-owned Exabelle from four foals to race. Most notably, these include the Leon & Troy Corsten’s trained dual Group 2 winner Yes Baby Yes [pictured above], successful in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (Gr.2) and MRC Angus Armanasco Stakes (Gr.2) in her 3-year-old season.
Significantly, Exabelle has now produced winners by three — Per Incanto, Dissident and Shooting To Win — different stallions from three different sirelines, and is proving to be a very valuable member of the Sledmere Stud broodmare band. She has also produced a full-sister to Yes Baby Yes, and a filly foal by Coolmore Australia stallion Yes Yes Yes born this past breeding season.
The win of No Baby No was a terrific way to close one year and provides plenty of reason to look forward to 2022 now very much upon us. Happy New Year to all friends, clients and associates of Sledmere Stud!
