Three major domestic sales are now behind us in 2022 following the conclusion of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale which saw the Sledmere Stud sales team sell 17 of its 18 Lots offered for an aggregate of $2,640,000 — the fifth highest of all vendors represented.
Like previously this year, the progeny of Russian Revolution and Zoustar were ‘hot items’ and again figured prominently in Sledmere’s consignment, five of our six highest prices at the Premier Sale being fetched by stock of these two highly commercial sires.
Top-price of the Sledmere draft proved to be a Russian Revolution filly produced by Rhema and catalogued as Lot 190. This quality daughter of Newgate Farm’s exciting first season stallion was bought for $360,000 by her co-breeder China Horse Club who were determined to own her outright and race her in their now very familiar red and yellow colours.
Other highlights saw a Russian Revolution-Cappella Magna colt (Lot 412) sold to Snowden Racing & William Johnson Bloodstock for $280,000; a Zoustar-Cross Legend colt (Lot 442) sold to Simon Zahra Racing for $230,000; and a full-sister (Lot 507) to the Sledmere Stud bred and co-raced dual Group 2 winner Yes Baby Yes sold to Robert Roulston Bloodstock for $200,000.
Just as the Magic Millions Gold Coast and the Sydney Classic sales before it, the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale saw members of the Sledmere Stud consignment sold to an outstanding selection of bloodstock purchasers, from some of the leading stables in the country to a number of very successful syndication companies and highly prominent agents. It all augurs well for these graduates receiving every chance of developing into distinguished racetrack performers and rewarding their owners both short- and long-term — as well as enhancing Sledmere’s proud reputation.
