YEARLING MANAGER
The first is an exciting opportunity to join our team as YEARLING MANAGER at Sledmere Stud. We are looking for someone whose goals are to become part of the management team and to have a long-term career in the thoroughbred industry. To be successful in this role, you will need to enjoy a broad and diverse range of responsibilities in a highly productive team environment.
The successful applicant will be required to have the following skills and experience:
> Maintaining best industry practice in relation to all horse management
> Regular assessment of all horse health and needs including a sound understanding of equine nutrition and health.
> Administering treatment and medications to horses in a timely manner.
> Maintaining records and documentation relating to horse treatments.
> A sound knowledge of veterinary practice involved with the raising and preparing yearling and weanlings for auction.
> Coordinate and work effectively with vets, farriers and external contractors.
> The ability to lead and work within a team environment, including the management and education of staff.
> A pride for presentation, excellent attention to detail and accuracy in executing work.
> Excellent time management skills and fantastic communications skills.
Applicants will need to have experience in a senior role and proven ability to prepare yearlings and weanlings to the highest standards. The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary, including on farm accommodation and will work within a professional and friendly team.
FULL-TIME GARDENER
The second is a FULL-TIME GARDENER for an immediate start. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, reliable and honest with a demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and have held a position in a similar role. You will be responsible for the maintenance of extensive lawns and gardens as well as hedges throughout the stud.
In this role, you will required to have the following experience and skills:
> Strong background in lawn and gardening maintenance
> Attention to detail with an interest to improving existing surrounds
> Operation and general maintenance of gardening machinery and equipment
> General knowledge of irrigation and water sprinkler operation and maintenance
> Hold a current driver’s license
> Acknowledge the importance of WHS within the workplace
