Sledmere Stud star sales graduate Invincibella earned herself a unique place in domestic racing history when landing her third-straight renewal of the $1,000,000 Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) — becoming the first horse ever to win the same Magic Millions race three times.
One of the leaders of her division over the past few seasons as a bona fide Group 1 winner of more than $2.4 million even before today’s feature, Invincibella sealed her place in the annals of the Bundall sales company as well as Sledmere Stud with a three-quarter length success of considerable merit.
Posted wide throughout in a 16-horse affair, the 6-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible loomed up to the leaders in ominous fashion soon after turning for home. In the style racegoers have grown accustomed to in each and every one of her interstate campaigns, Invincibella assumed control of the race halfway down the Southport racetrack straight before going on to record her historic victory.
Speaking after the win, regular rider Hugh Bowman remarked: “I’ve had a great association with her. She’s got a real soft spot in my heart, and I’m just so proud she could come here and do it again.”
Bowman added: “The management of her, to keep her coming back year after year and to race at the top level throughout the year at the other carnivals, is just extraordinary.”
Trainer Chris Waller also said in part… “it’s very special to be a part of horses like that. We like our young horses, the two-year-olds, but the four-, five- and six-year-olds are still very much a part of our team and if you look after them, they look after you.”
Bought from Sledmere Stud by Star Thoroughbreds for $185,000 at the 2015 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Invincibella is raced by Mr F A Kennedy, Mrs B L Kennedy, Paramount Racing, Mr A I Grant-Taylor, Mr M J Stiff, Mr M A W Birchall, Miss C L Birchall, Mr R B West, P & S Glenney & S Mckee Racing, Mr R B T Aurisch, Mrs H A Aurisch & Boeara Holdings. Her 43 career starts have now yielded 12 wins and 12 placings, for no less than $3,075,103 in earnings.
In winning her third Magic Millions Fillies & Mares, Invincibella became the highest earning racehorse sired by the all-conquering stallion I Am Invincible, exceeding the $2,710,180 and 367,000Dhs (approx. $144,800) amassed by Viddora during her brilliant racing career.
