The first foal of the 2022 domestic breeding season has arrived at Sledmere Stud to commence a very busy few months ahead.
Born on the last day of July, our foaling team welcomed into the world a daughter of Widden Stud’s four-time Group 1 winner Trapeze Artist produced by the stud owned Catchulata (by Charge Forward).
The fourth foal of the mare, Catchulata hails from the same family as dual Group 1 winner Response (by Charge Forward), herself the dam of Golden Slipper winner Estijaab — the Champion 2YO of Australia in 2017-18.
Another very notable member of this lineage is Returntosender, winner of the Group 2 SAJC Queen of the South Stakes.
Catchulata’s second foal, a colt by Russian Revolution, was sold by Sledmere Stud to Hawkes Racing at the 2022 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $220,000 and has very recently been named Gunship. The youngster is set to race in the famous colours of R & C Legh Racing, carried by a plethora of outstanding gallopers include the mighty Chautauqua.
