Two days of trading at the 2023 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale witnessed the Sledmere Stud consignment find some very good homes and receive every chance of making an impact on the racetrack in the not too distant future, and ultimately as breeding propositions further in their career.

Day 1 saw the Sledmere Stud team successfully trade four outstanding fillies on behalf of our clients.

Described by Inglis as “an absolute queen of a filly”, Lot 8 of our draft began the day in excellent fashion when realising $825K and being secured by A-Grade trainer Peter Moody acting on behalf of our great clients and friends Waikato Stud. The full-sister to Sledmere ‘Hall of Fame’ graduate Invincibella is joining the team behind last Saturday’s exceptional TJ Smith winner I Wish I Win (NZ) and could not be in better hands — from both a racing and breeding perspective.

The first session of the Easter Sale also witnessed our team sell a Savabeel filly (Lot 68) on behalf of Waikato Stud to Hilldene Farm of Victoria for $550,000, and a daughter of So You Think (NZ) on behalf of WA-based Einoncliff Park Thoroughbreds to Matt Laurie Racing for $300,000.

Our opening day closed when Lot 151, a striking chestnut daughter of The Autumn Sun from the family of Mackay family-raced stakes winners Golden Millennium and Miss Mariba, was sold to Stratheden Pastoral of NSW for $75,000.

Day 2 witnessed two of the three Lots offered successfully sold when a filly by Snitzel fetched $350,000 and a son of Zoustar made $190,000.

Presented as Lot 273, the home-bred half-sister to $780,000 winner Pancho was secured on behalf of B K Racing & Breeding P/L and is to be trained by Brad Widdup whose management of fellow Sledmere Stud sales graduate Icebath (NZ) has been exceptional.

The Zoustar colt went through the ring as Lot 387 and is headed across the Tasman. This good looking youngster was bought by Matamata-based Prima Park, one of New Zealand’s leading Ready-to-Run outfits.

Sledmere’s select 2023 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale draft was superbly presented by the team. Their devotion and dedication throughout the exercise was responsible for some notable outcomes for our clients.
