The 2025 Inglis Chairman’s Sale saw Sledmere Stud offer three outstanding mares on behalf of clients and the farm itself, with the prized trio realising a combined $2,650,000 in receipts. The draft comprised Coco Sun, Yes Baby Yes and Waikato Girl (NZ).

Winner of the Group 1 South Australian Derby, Coco Sun (Lot 48) was knocked down to Victoria’s Z Zhijun for $1.2 million. The daughter of The Autumn Sun was offered as a Racing and Breeding proposition, having last faced the starter in the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) at Flemington in November.

Sledmere Stud has now sold five breeding prospects for seven-figure sums at recent renewals of the Chairman’s Sale, Coco Sun following Pippie ($1.8m, 2021), Pennyweka [NZ] ($1.6m, 2024), Quantum Mechanic ($1.2m, 2022) and Daysee Doom ($1.1m, 2022).

Bred, raised and sold by Sledmere Stud as a yearling, the dual Group 2 winner Yes Baby Yes (Lot 24) was offered in foal to Coolmore’s superstar sire Wootton Bassett (GB). The daughter of Dissident and the farm’s cherished matriarch Exabelle fetched $875,000 when sold to close farm ally Mick Malone Bloodstock, proprietor of nearby Scone concern North.

Relatively fresh out of training, Waikato Girl (NZ) got the evening underway for the Sledmere Stud consignment when offered as Lot 20 on behalf of her ownership group. The Listed BRC Princess Stakes winner and well-related daughter of Savabeel was sold for $575,000 to the Growing Empire Syndicate.
