It was another big week of bloodstock trading for the Sledmere Stud sales team when the Inglis Chairman’s Sale backed on to the two-day Inglis Australian Weanling Sale at Riverside Stables, Warwick Farm.

Highlights of the week included two weanlings fetching very healthy six-figure sums and a brace of outstanding racemares successfully sold as racing and breeding prospects on behalf of their respective owners.

Colts by Too Darn Hot (GB) and Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside led the way for our weanling draft. The former (Lot 145) was sold to Supreme Thoroughbreds P/L of Victoria for $150,000, and the latter (Lot 180) to Silverdale Farm of NSW for $120,000.

The sale of Lot 180 was especially significant as the youngster proved to be the most expensive colt sold from the first crop of Stay Inside thus far at public auction. A striking chestnut, he hailed from a European family with a plethora of stakes winners in Germany, France and Italy.

Two other colts in the Sledmere Stud weanling draft made $70,000 apiece, Lot 335 being a first-crop son of another hugely exciting freshman sire in the form of European Champion 2YO Pinatubo (Ire).

The Chairman’s Sale saw our team have the privilege of offering two outstanding racemares, namely dual Group 1 Oaks winner Pennyweka (NZ) and multiple stakes winner Foxy Frida.

Not surprisingly, Pennyweka (NZ) proved to be one of the headline makers of the evening when sold to Panthalassa Syndicate for $1.6 million.

The fabulous Foxy Frida, winner of 10 races from 1200m to 2015m and $1.3 million in prizemoney, was sold for $575,000 to Bangaloe Stud owned by NSW racing stalwart Julia Ritchie.
