Our Services
Sledmere Stud caters for both short and long term spelling and broodmare agistment. Our clients are our first priority, so you can choose to have your mare walked on and returned to you in foal, or we can take care of the whole process from conception through to foaling, on to yearling preparation, and everything in between. Sledmere Stud attends all the major yearling sales throughout the season and their quality drafts are prepared to the highest of standards.
We retain the services of respected Scone Vet Rowan ‘Sedge’ Sedgwick of Sedgwick Equine.
Rowan grew up on a remote station near Longreach in western Queensland. He attended boarding school at “Churchie” in Brisbane and then went onto Queensland University where he graduated from Veterinary Science with Honours in 1991.
He then worked at several equine practices, including the Gold Coast Racetrack; Newhaven Park at Boorowa; Newmarket in England; The Curragh in Kildare in Ireland; Bunbury in Western Australia; and Kentucky in the USA, gaining valuable experience.
In 1996 he became the Resident Veterinarian at the Upper Hunter studs of Collingrove and then Widden. In 2000 he set up Sedgwick Equine Veterinary Service and started supplying a service to Segenhoe and Willow Park Studs. In 2014 his services were engaged by Sledmere Stud and he now resides on farm.
Rowan is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons in Equine Medicine and a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. His primary area of interest is equine reproduction.
Sledmere Stud also specialises in injury assessment, management and rehabilitation. We are also pleased to be owners of the Equi-massage device, which we utilise extensively as part of our individually tailored recovery programs.
