Sledmere Stud sale graduates are finishing the 2023/24 season with a flourish, posting wins at a variety of tracks up and down the eastern seaboard over the past few weeks.
The penultimate Saturday of the season was a prime example. The Sydney program at Rosehill Gardens witnessed Llanddwyn record her second win in succession having landed her previous outing at a midweek Canterbury Park meeting.
Raced by Go Bloodstock Australia and China Horse Club Racing Pty Ltd, the 3-year-old daughter of Deep Field has now won three of her 11 starts and took her earnings to $222,600 with a bright 4-year-old season waiting ahead under the guidance of trainer Chris Waller.
Also seen winning on the same afternoon as Llanddwyn was the first starter Rebel Exe. Having her first start for popular Victoria-based trainer Lindsey Smith, this 3-year-old filly scored a determined victory at Mildura.
Rebel Exe is a daughter of Sledmere Stud’s wonderful producer Exabelle — and therefore a full-sister to dual Group 2 winner Yes Baby Yes. Moreover, Rebel Exe is Exabelle’s fifth foal to race and all five are now winners.
The dual interstate wins of Llanddwyn and Rebel Exe followed a sequence of victories by Sledmere Stud sale graduates in the final stanza of the current racing season. Other notable victories have been recorded by the likes of Zarrose (at Newcastle), Jazzclub (NZ) (at Seymour), Alcabeel (NZ) (at Newcastle), Shogun Express (NZ) (at Ballarat), Xaphan (at Mildura) and Red Mile (at Cranbourne).
This healthy contingent of recent winners has provided a fitting end to a racing season to remember. Fellow Sledmere Stud sale graduates include 2023/24 Group 1 winners Veight and Ozzmosis, as well as Group/LIsted winners Revolutionary Miss, Wymark (NZ) and Arkansaw Kid to name but a few.
