It’s pretty safe to say that the 2025 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale lived right up to expectations in virtually each and every way, with some mind-boggling results for a healthy contingent of vendors including the Sledmere Stud team.

Without going into too much detail, a $1 million filly (Lot 378) sold on behalf of our valued client Philippa Duncan proved to be the highlight of our week based out at Riverside Stables. The Too Darn Hot (GB) half-sister to Group winner Arkansaw Kid presented like a princess and was one of 17 youngsters we successfully sold on behalf of clients or the farm itself.

Top-price of the colts we offered went to Lot 268, a Stay Inside half-brother to celebrated Sledmere Stud graduate Invincibella sold to Anthony & Sam Freedman / Julian Blaxland Bloodstock (FBAA) / Kia Ora for $450,000. A striking chestnut, the colt is the ninth foal of the grand producing Galileo broodmare Abscond whose progeny also  include the stakes winners Secret Blaze and Extreme Flight, as well as the dam of last Saturday’s emphatic Group 1 ATC Australian Derby winner Aeliana (NZ).

The strength of the Easter Yearling Sale’s buying bench was arguably stronger than ever witnessed before, a fact illustrated by the wide-range of purchasers of youngsters bought out of the Sledmere Stud draft taken to Riverside Stables for the 2025 edition of the sale. The names of pre-eminent trainers and training partnerships, prominent international bloodstock agents, New Zealand powerhouse Te Akau Racing and The Hong Kong Jockey all appear on the list of Sledmere Stud graduates successfully sold, as well as industry icon John Singleton no less.

To cap it all, Sydney’s early autumn weather over the entire duration of inspection and sale days was at its very finest. Suffice to say that there was plenty of blue sky during the course of the week and broad smiles by the end of it.

It’s a big thanks from us to everyone who played their part in a momentous renewal of the time honoured auction.
