Sledmere Stud sales graduate Icarian Dream stamped herself as a live 2025 Magic Millions 2YO Classic chance when producing a dominant display in landing a hotly contested renewal of the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm in Brisbane.

A daughter of Godophin shuttle sire Blue Point (Ire) having her fourth career start since debuting with a victory at Warwick Farm in mid-October, Icarian Dream ran out a one-and-a-half length winner under Jason Collett after improving from eighth position on the home turn in a 14 horse field.

In addition to adding an invaluable Group race success to her record, Icarian Dream took her earnings to $273,600 following two wins and one second, having appeared to make progress with each start under the guidance of trainer Ciaron Maher.

Speaking after the win, rider Jason Collett remarked: “Her turn of foot was electric. She came to them so quickly and it’s a very long straight for a two-year-old, especially when you are right in the middle, but it was easy. Very easy.”

Collett added: “I guess that’s a credit to Ciaron and his team. We say it a lot, but she was there at the first two-year-old trials of the season in Sydney and she’s continually raced through. If anything, she’s thriving and getting better.”

Sledmere Stud offered Icarian Dream as a yearling and Ciaron Maher Bloodstock secured the filly for $300,000. She now races in an all ladies ownership group comprising Mrs CMR Ladies, Mrs G C Psaltis, Grand Parkview Stud, Mrs M T Greenhalgh, Ms S M Fitzgerald, Miss T H Carmont, Ms J Crewes, Miss S Budisa, Mrs J McKenna, Mrs M Rossdale, Ms M Catoggio, Mrs S Eddy, Mrs D R Kyriazis, Mrs R Scanlon, Mrs L M Sewgoolam, Ms Z K Meredith & Mrs B K Crouch.

Following her flawless B.J. McLachlan Stakes success, Icarian Dream is now a $6.00 second favourite for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m) on January 11.
