A daughter of Trapeze Artist became the first foal born at Sledmere Stud in the 2023 breeding season when arriving with perfect timing on August 1.

A striking chestnut filly sporting a pronounced white blaze was produced by Catchulata (by Charge Forward), a very close relative of dual Group 1 winner Response, herself the dam of Golden Slipper winner Estijaab.

Also foaled at Sledmere Stud in the first week of August was a filly [pictured above] by The Autumn Sun from Invincible Fille (by I Am Invincible), the early-comer being a direct descendant of Starcent (NZ) and Star of the Knight (NZ) — both of which were multiple Group winners during their respective time on the racetrack.

Another filly to have been produced in the first week of August is one of the very first foals to be born — if not the very first — by 2022 first season sire Extreme Warrior. Her dam, Rua Raposa (by Foxwedge), is herself a half-sister to the Listed SAJC Lightning Stakes winner Extremely Lucky (by Extreme Choice), and hails from the family of Group 1 SAJC Goodwood Handicap winner Zip Zip Aray.

Based at Rosemont Stud in Victoria, Extreme Warrior covered 113 mares in his first stud season and is one of four sire-sons by the celebrated Newgate-based stallion Extreme Choice now in service.
