Now that the dust has settled on the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, a quick review of the business the Sledmere Stud team conducted over the three days should illustrate the hard work everyone did to get such a satisfactory result for our valued clients, as well as our proud nursery itself.

The metrics show that Sledmere Stud ended proceedings 4th leading vendor by aggregate — behind industry goliaths Arrowfield Stud, Widden Stud and Yulong — after having sold 26 of the 29 yearlings we took to Riverside Stables for a total of $2,527,500. That in itself is no mean feat!

Without going into too much detail, the fact that we realised a clearance rate of 90 per cent also reflects how much effort was done by one and all — before, during and even after each individual member of our draft went through the sales ring.

The wide range of industry participants who bought a member of the Sledmere Stud consignment, either in part or full, was also very heartening and reflects the confidence the buying bench has in the quality of bloodstock coming off the farm.

From leading stables such as Archibald Neasham Racing, Lees Racing, McEvoy Mitchell Racing, A Freedman, SZ Racing and Kendrick Racing, to prominent agents Bahen Bloodstock, McKeever Bloodstock, Belmont Bloodstock, Julian Blaxland Bloodstock and Paul Willetts Bloodstock Consultancy, to long established syndication companies Hancox Bloodstock, MiRunners and Darby Racing, our Classic Sale consignment ‘went home’ with a tremendously healthy selection of highly respected judges and it will now get every opportunity to realise its potential on the racetrack.

There are plenty of people to thank for such a scenario, and we appreciate one and all. Well done to everyone who made the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale such a positive three days for Team Sledmere and the domestic thoroughbred bloodstock industry as a whole.
