Smart juvenile filly Gold Fever (Savabeel-Gold Rocks, by Oratorio) will be chasing early black-type honours in the new season, reports NZ Racing Desk.
“She’s matured and getting through a little bit of work,” said Stephen Autridge, who trains in partnership with Jamie Richards.
“She’s acting as if she’s grown up and after trialling on August 15 at Te Rapa, providing we’re happy enough, she’ll contest the early season fillies’ races over 1200 metres.”
A winner of 3 of her 6 starts, Gold Fever emulated her half-sister Gold Rush (So You Think) when winning the Gr2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) at Matamata earlier this year. She then rounded out her 2YO campaign when finishing third to highly regarded colt Summer Passage in the Gr1 Sistema Stakes (formerly Diamond Stakes) at Ellerslie.
Both Gold fever and Summer Passage are finalists for New Zealand’s Champion 2YO award that will be announced later in the year.
Gold Fever was purchased from the draft of Sledmere Stud at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale by Te Akau’s David Ellis.
